It can be, on the right roof. Rejuvenation is worth asking about when the shingles are drying out but the roof is still sound, and a replacement isn’t needed yet.
On the wrong roof, it’s money spent on a problem it can’t fix. So the real question is which roof you have.
When it’s worth asking about
Rejuvenation is aimed at one stage of aging: shingles that have gone dry and stiff. NexaNano, who makes the product we use, says its rejuvenation treatment “restores flexibility to dry and brittle roof surfaces.” That only helps if the rest of the roof is holding up. A roof is a good candidate when:
- Nothing leaks, and the ceilings show no fresh stains.
- The decking feels firm, with no sag between the rafters.
- The shingles look faded or chalky but still lie flat.
- You plan to keep this roof a while, not tear it off next spring.
When it isn’t
- Leaks. Water getting in is a repair. A treatment won’t stop it.
- Bare mat. Where the black mat shows through, the granules are gone, and no spray puts them back.
- Soft decking. Spongy spots underfoot mean the wood below needs a roofer.
- A no from the shingle maker or HOA. We check both before we recommend anything. If either one says no, so do we.
- A young roof. If the shingles still bend and hold their grit, rejuvenation treats a problem you don’t have yet. Protection, or nothing, may fit better.
You won’t get a number of years from us, or a percentage. We haven’t seen one we’d stand behind. What you will get is a straight read on your roof. We don’t do repairs or new roofs ourselves. If your roof needs one, we can refer you to a vetted local roofing contractor or coordinate the estimate, and you still get our photos.
The treatment itself is covered on our roof rejuvenation page, and rejuvenation vs protection sorts out which one fits. Then book a free exterior evaluation, or call or text Revive Exteriors at (812) 664-6222.
